It's been a fantastic week here in Georgia!
Last Monday for p-day we went downtown and walked around looking at the different historic places they have. We took a few pictures of the Ray Charles statue. They have him playing the piano. He is from Albany. Tuesday we had district meeting and one of the Elders is going home so we made funeral potatoes and the Elders made a cake. His companion wrote a Eulogy and we had a "funeral" for him. He laid on the ground while he read it and we all talked about memories we had. He goes home today actually.
We received a referral. Someone went online and requested a missionary visit. This family lives at the edge of our area. Miracle of the day trying to get there though. We went to visit them and the gps was wrong so we got lost we tried to call them but we didn't have any cell phone service. After trying the view houses in the area nobody was home. We tried the phone again and got service long enough to find her house and it all worked out. It's such a great family. They've had missionaries teach them when they lived in Michigan! They moved here to Georgia and wanted to keep learning. They had lost they're copies of the Book of Mormon in the move. They asked for a Book of Mormon they Wednesday when we came back Friday. David Jenifer's husband had already read the intro and testimony's all the way up to ch 6 in first Nephi with things highlighted, notes and questions. Which is so fantastic! It's been great getting to know them, They have so many pets! They have like 11 cats some inside some outside a few of them are kittens. they also have some: dogs, turkeys, chickens, and a pig who is house trained and knocks on the door to come inside he also does tricks for jolly ranchers! We went to their place for a fourth of July bbq on the 3rd it was a lot of fun!
Thursday a we went out to lunch for Indian food with a member and her friend she's a little interested in the church. That was great to spend time with them. We meet them at the book of Mormon class Wednesday. The food was okay a little spicy though.
Saturday we were trying to save miles so we walked to different less actives close by. We came in for lunch just as it started raining. There are these big alarms outside they went off it's said: thunder storm warning is in affect seek shelter now! We had a crazy thunder storm it was sooo loud. Later that night we were on lock down so we ordered pizza, garlic knots, and some Root beer and had it delivered. Sister Smiths mom sent some stuff for the 4th so we took pictures with it. We played skipboo and ate pizza while we waited for transfer calls. We're both staying in Albany, we were so excited we started to jump up and down screaming! Overall it was a great night! Sister Muegge's companion went home today so she's hanging out with us until she gets her new companion tomorrow. She came over yesterday we're in a 3 some for a few days.
I'm excited to stay in Albany for another transfer with my companion Sister Smith. I know great things will happen with all the fantastic people we're teaching. Make it a great week!
Georgia peach,
Sister Emily Wheelwright
