Hey ya'll,
It's been an interesting week! So many miracles have happened. Recently we've received so many investigators all from members. This has really strengthened my testimony of member missionary work and how fantastic it is! So now our teaching pool is getting bigger and I know it's because we've been diligent in working hard even if sometimes we're cold, tired, or hungry! A few of them have been taking the lessons and coming to church already so they are ready for baptism! So much is happening in Columbus!
We tried to see a referral from the church website and the gps wouldn't pull up the address so we went to what we thought would be close. and it was down by fort benning which is pretty ghetto! We got to these apt's and there was this weird guy standing there with his hands on his hips staring at us. That should have been the first warning. then we pulled in and while my comp was praying I had my sunglasses on and my eyes open and saw this creepy guy with no teeth and a hoodie on walked slowly past our car as he stared at us! Then he came back asking who we're looking for, so we told him. He asked for the street name? We said we don't have it, we need pine view apt. So he left to if see if he could find out where is was. We should have just left then....but nope my comp waited. Then he came back and he offered for us to come in to look it up on the computer. We said no that's okay, we'll look it up on the gps. So he started walking up the stairs and we got in the car to look it up and there were like 6 big black guys in front on our car!!! AHHHHH! So sis curtis put the car in reverse ready to go because one of them was talking with the guy on the stairs. He looked super mad and then he started pointing at our car!!!!! He had tattoo's on his neck and face and 4 tear drop tattoo's on his check which usually means how many people you've killed! We though he was going to add 3 more to it! Us and Destini the recent convert that came with us. I saw my life flash be fore my eyes my funeral was planed. I made a plan to jump over and drive if my comp got shot 1st. Then he came to the window and tapped on it. She rolled it down a little and he gave us directions ( he didn't kill us) to find the apt. Then we talked about the church he said he might come sunday. If he does we'll give him to the elders.
Then we found the right apt and the lady invited us in. She was really nice! We were surprised! The lady came out and asked us where we were from? We said utah. She had just got back from Utah. She lived there for a few years and was talking the missionary discussions about to get baptized. She wanted to know if we could help her? It was a miracle! Then as we were walking to the car I gave some kids pictures of Jesus Christ. They were so excited. They wanted some for they're parents too. So that was fun!
Saturday we got to the place where we were going to tract and my comp prayed that we would be able to have one lesson with someone. We started and most of the people said no. It was the last house before we had to leave for an appointment. We were able to teach him the first lesson and set up a time to come back too! I know that heavenly father is aware of us and will answer our prayers! One of our investigators has been struggling with tithing and he prayed and was able to receive an answer to his prays to over come it. Prayer is such an amazing thing, I'm so grateful the knowledge the gospel brings into my life. I was studying D&C ch 6 which is amazing! Verses 22-24 and 34:
Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail.
I know this is true with all my heart! I love being able to share it with others. I'm so grateful for the gospel, my family specifically my parents and all they taught me, and friends for all your love and support. Make it a great week!

Hey y'all,It's been a great week!  It's getting warmer now so that's good! For P-day yesterday we went to the mall, walked around, had lunch. Then we went to the church to play chair soccer which is harder with 5 people! Then we went to the river walk and sat by the river. It is pretty cool! I'll take pictures next time!
Friday was a little crazy. We had so many appointments. It was great! We had a great lesson with Shontarien, he had so many ?'s. We taught him the plan of salvation. It's so interesting to teach that lesson because so many people never really think about those ?'s why we're here where we came from and where we're going. We also taught Elisha. He is getting ready for baptism. He is so excited!   I feel so blessed to have the knowledge of the true gospel of Jesus christ. To see the light of Christ come into people's lives as they come to know the truths we share. A recent convert quit smoking and started coming to church.
Transfer calls saturday were crazy. We thought that my companion was leaving but she's not! On sunday the power went out 20 min before church started so people had to talk loud. It came on half way through the meeting. We had 3 investigators come to church! I'm so blessed to be able to be serving a mission, and for all your love and support.

Hey y'all,
Another amazing week in Georgia! We had exchanges I went to Lanett, Alabama for a day. I learned a lot plus it was freezing there.
This past weekend we were able to have a mission conference. The entire mission came to Macon. We took a picture with  Elder & Sister Anderson, Elder Soares, and Elder & Sister Giddens. We then were able to shake their hands too. We then listened to President and Sister Cottle share their testimony's, which is always great. Sister Giddens talked about her families conversion to the church. Elder Soares spoke about having a vision for your mission, and what you do here will affect you after you mission, be obedient. Elder and Sister Anderson talked about Honesty in all areas of our lives.
Then next day Elder Soares came to a special stake conference in our stake. I was able to sing in the choir. He came and talked with us before the meeting and after as well complementing us on how well we did. It wasn't the best, biggest choir, so that was nice of him. The stake conference was about making goals to do family history work and take them to the temple, moving forward with excitement with whats to come, sharing the gospel when ever we can. After the meeting I was able to talk with him a little. One of his mission companions is from lindon! It was such an amazing experience to be able to meet them and hear their words for us. One of our investigators Elijah who is 9 yrs old came to church and was able to meet Elder Soares too! He was so excited, it was awesome. I thought it was cool to meet him because my farewell talk before I left on my mission was on a talk he gave in conference. I'm so grateful to be able to be serving a mission here in Georgia and for all your love and support.

Hey Y'all!
It's been a great week! We were able to have some great lessons, and see so much progress from our investigators. One of them, Brother Lee, was able to come to church yesterday! He is such a great person. I've learned so much from him and his wife.  She has done so much for me and everyone around her. I know that they will do great things. I feel so blessed to be able to know and serve around them.
I'm excited for the new year! I know that more great and wonderful things will happen! I feel so blessed to be a part of them in hastening the work. I hope that y'all are able to take part in it as well. I know that it will change your life and bring you so many blessing, if nothing else then closer to Christ. I've decided to be better at making goals... and reaching them! I know that as we set goals and pray for the lords help in reaching them, then do our best, he will help and bless us. One of them is: I'm going to strive to improve my personal studies and be better at writing down what I learn in my journal.
Recently I've been studying about the Atonement and some scriptures that I've really come to love are: 2 nephi ch 2, Alma 7:11-13, and Alma 34: 8-10. Jesus Christ loves us so much, he died for each one of us. I'm so grateful to be able to partake of the sacrament each week to renew my covenants. Another goal of mine is to make the sacrament more personal. To really listen to those prayers and strive to be better each week. I'm so grateful to be here serving a mission and for all your love and support.
Sincerely,
Sister Emily Wheelwright
